Head of Investment, Direct Line Group

Atanas joined Direct Line Group in 2012 to help establish and run the company’s investment function after its separation form RBS. After graduating from the European Business School in London in 1994 he worked as a fixed income analyst for ABN AMRO Hoare Govett and as a proprietary trader at S-E-Banken. Later he joined Fiduciary Trust (later part of Franklin Templeton) to set up the Euro High Yield Fund which he ran for six years. Prior to joining Direct Line he managed global bond portfolios for the Kuwait Investment Office
and Charles Taylor Investment Management.

Chief Investment Officer, Munich Re

Nicholas Gartside is a Member of the Board of Management of Munich Re.

As Chief Investment Officer, Nicholas Gartside is responsible for the whole Asset Management of Munich Re (Group) whose asset manager, MEAG, currently has assets to the value of around €254bn under management.

Prior to taking over responsibility as CIO, Nicholas worked as International Chief Investment Officer at JP Morgan Asset Management and held various positions within Schroder Investment Management and Mercury Asset Management in London.

Nicholas earned a Master in Philosophy, International Relations from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Arts, History and Politics from the University of Durham, England.


Investment Director, Insurance Specialist, Aberdeen Standard Investments

Bruce is currently a Global Insurance Investment Director developing Aberdeen Standard Investment's global insurance business.

He has broad financial services experience including corporate finance, international business development and has risk management and insurance/banking regulatory development experience.

A graduate of Edinburgh and Cambridge Universities, he is a UK and Indian actuary, as well as a Council Member of the UK profession.


Ed Palmer


EMEA Chief Investment Officer, MetLife

Ed Palmer is Regional Chief Investment Officer for EMEA Investments. He was appointed to this position in June 2017. Prior to assuming his current position, he was Managing Director and Head of Credit for EMEA Investments.

Mr Palmer has 21 years’ experience across investment banking, credit ratings and insurance asset management. In his current role he is responsible for approximately $53bn of assets managed from the London office.

Prior to joining MetLife in 2006, Ed was a Senior Analyst at Moody’s. Before joining Moody’s, Ed spent several years at Barclays working in investment banking.

Mr Palmer holds a B.A. in European Studies (Economics and Politics) from the University of Manchester.

Ian has been Pool Re’s Chief Investment Officer since joining in 2011. As CIO he is responsible for the development and implementation of investment strategy, strategic asset allocation and the monitoring of the range of managers through whom Pool Re invests. Prior to joining Pool Re as CIO, Ian was Managing Director of Butterfield Asset Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of Butterfield Bank. The asset management subsidiary provided investment management services to high net worth individuals, institutions and retail clients.

Group Chief Economist - Managing Director, Swiss Re

As Group Chief Economist for Swiss Re, Jérôme is responsible for the economic and insurance market research. The economic research functions include the macro and interest rate forecasts and associated consulting services for the Group.

Jérôme is active in external committees and roundtable discussions with policymakers in strengthening the positive dual role of the insurance sector as a long-term investor and risk absorber, especially on the infrastructure and long-term investment front.


Deputy Head of Policy Department, European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA)

Justin Wray is Deputy Head of the Policy Department and Head of the Insurance Policy Unit of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA).

At EIOPA Justin has been responsible for the provision of advice on the IORP II directive, EIOPA's technical standards and guidelines required under the Solvency II directive.

Before joining EIOPA in May 2011, Justin worked at the UK Pensions Regulator in a number of operational and policy roles including as Head of Pensions Administration and Governance.

Prior to this, Justin worked at the UK Treasury on financial services regulation and international debt issues, and at the UK Department for International Development.

Justin holds bachelors and masters degrees in economics (Universities of Southampton and Warwick), and an MBA from Cranfield University.

Chief Investment Officer, Foresters Friendly Society

Corrado Pistarino has more than 20 years experience in capital market. He is Chief Investment Officer at Foresters Friendly Society.

Previously to his current positions, he was Head of Insurance LDI at Aviva Investors, responsible for over £10bn of insurance funds and £30bn of derivatives exposure.

His previous employers include Deutsche Bank, Dresden Kleinwort and ABN AMRO Bank. He worked in structuring/trading and client coverage, with a focus on ALM and capital management solutions.

Corrado has a degree in Physics from Turin University and a Master in Finance from London Business School.


Managing Director, SS&C Technologies

Scott Kurland is a Managing Director at SS&C Technologies, and Global Head of Product & Marketing for SS&C Singularity, the industry’s first intelligent, AI-driven investment operations and accounting solution. Prior to joining SS&C, Mr. Kurland served as Managing Director and Head of Workflow Technology at ITG in New York, overseeing the firm’s trading and analytics software, global FIX network and post-trade processing platforms - servicing some of the world’s largest asset managers and hedge funds. A 20+ year veteran and serial entrepreneur in the financial services industry, Mr. Kurland was a co-founder of Elephant eXpress, where he launched one of the first listed alternative trading systems in conjunction with the National Stock Exchange, as well as a Co-Founder and Head of Product Development at ESP Technologies, where he pioneered the concept of Single Ticket

Clearing and was granted two patents for innovative post-trade aggregation and settlement software he created for the global asset management community. Mr. Kurland received his finance degree from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Director Global Investment Solutions, Lyxor Asset Management

Rudyard Ekindi is a director in the Global Investment Solutions team at Lyxor Asset Management, which he joined in 2017. Previously he was responsible for equities investment solutions at Unigestion from 2015 to 2016. Ekindi began his career as an actuarial consultant at JWA Actuaires, before joining the interest rate markets team at JP Morgan. Prior to that, he spent 10 years in various roles at Credit Suisse Asset Management, first in Paris, then London. Ekindi was also investment director at UK pension fund, NEST, responsible for asset allocation, risk management and manager selection from 2009 to 2013.

He holds an engineering degree from the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne and a master’s in financial science and insurance form the University of Lyon.

Since 1991 Debbie held various senior business development roles in Standard Life Insurance before joining Standard Life Investments in 2010. Debbie was responsible for managing the Global Inter Group relationship with the Insurance company and leading the strategy for Global Insurance Distribution. Debbie graduated with an MA in English from Edinburgh University and is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh Business School Executive Women’s Leadership Programme. Chief Investment Officer, AIG

Jeremy is Chief Investment Officer of AIG Asset Management (Europe) Limited, and is responsible for developing strategic asset allocation and Managing Investment portfolios. Jeremy joined AIG in 2002, and has carried out a number of roles in both portfolio construction and management, executive management, and most extensively in credit research. In addition to developing investment strategies and constructing portfolios for property and casualty and life companies, Jeremy has extensive experience of managing pension schemes, covering both defined benefit and defined contribution structures, both as Chair of Trustees and as Chief Investment Officer. Prior to joining AIG, Jeremy worked for a number of Asset Management companies including Jardines and Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where his responsibilities were primarily focused within the fixed income asset class. Jeremy holds a BA (Hons) in Accounting & Finance from Nottingham Business School, and is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Mr. Webb is a senior vice president and account manager in the London office, focusing on institutional client servicing. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2008, he worked for National Australia Bank in London, trading interest rate derivatives. He has 18 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from INSEAD and an undergraduate degree from the London School of Economics.

Olivier de Besombes joined as director in Lyxor Investment Solutions team in December 2016. He was previously a hedge fund analyst at Lyxor, in charge of Fixed Income, Global Macro and CB strategies. In January 2013, Olivier became Head of the Fixed Income, Credit and CB desk. Olivier graduated with a Degree in Civil Engineering from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Nancy (France, 2003), and holds a Master's Degree in Finance from ESCP-Europe (Paris, France, 2004).

Nick joined Royal Dutch Shell in 1987. In 1996 Nick gained an MBA from Columbia University, New York, and joined strategy consultant Booz & Co where he worked until 2002.

Nick started in UK financial services with Skandia in 2002, as Strategy Director and then Marketing Director. Nick has been Investment Director at Aegon since 2013. He is responsible for £60 billion of client assets and driving Aegon’s investment proposition. Nick is leading changes to Aegon’s lifestyle funds for workplace savers and helping Aegon’s business transform following the sale of its annuity book and acquisition of Cofunds.

Ryan has been with Clearwater since 2010, working primarily with insurers to transform their investment operations, data management, accounting and reporting. Ryan has successfully served in several roles during his time at Clearwater including account manager and client services manager working across multiple large global client partnerships. He has deep knowledge of how to improve processes, and works with teams to ensure they receive the highest quality investment accounting and reporting available. Stephen assumed his current role following the merger of Standard Life with Aberdeen Asset Management in August 2017. This role takes overall responsibility for the asset management propositions and services which are offered to our global insurance client base.

Prior to the merger Stephen held a variety posts within Standard Life Investments; initially on the fund management side ultimately serving as Head of the Japanese Equity desk, then on the business development and client servicing side with responsibility for growing the UK business and latterly as an Executive Director on the Board of Standard Life Investments with overall responsibility for Insurance clients.

Gautier is the Global Head of Operations since June 219. Previously, he led the Technology team dedicated to Front Office for the last 6 years.

Beforehand, Gautier spent 3 years in the US as the COO of the Greenwich office and 6 years in Operations.

Prior to joining AXA IM in 2004, Gautier occupied various roles in Operations at Société Générale between 2000 and 2004. Gautier has started his career at Banque Indosuez as an internal strategic auditor in 1995.

Head of Institutional Fixed Income, M&G Investments

William was appointed Head of Institutional Fixed Income in March 2019. Prior to this he served as Co-head of Alternative Credit where he was responsible for the development of various products including credit solutions for institutional investors, social housing and other aspects of non-bank lending.

William joined M&G in 2004. Prior to this, William was Head of European Credit at Henderson Global Investors and before this had worked at Cazenove & Co in corporate bond research and fund management.

William graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University with a degree in Natural Sciences. He is a CFA charter-holder and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.


Chief Operating Officer, Charles Taylor Investment Management

Mr. King is COO at Charles Taylor Investment Management Limited, a FTSE 250 insurance services company serving clients from 29 countries. Formerly he was Regional CEO, EMEA at PineBridge Investments and has expertise in numerous regulatory regimes. At Pinebridge, (formerly AIG Global Investments) he developed both Euro and Global Aggregate Bond products, combining interest rate, currency and credit risk, to provide a broad selection of alpha opportunities. Mr. King began in finance in 1989 at J.P. Morgan Investment Management, managing investments for pension funds and private clients. At J.P. Morgan, he undertook positions in capital markets research, fixed income trading and portfolio management.

Dawn Daggy-Mangerson is Managing Director and Director of the Municipal Portfolio Management team at Loomis, Sayles & Company. In this role, she is responsible for developing and executing tax-exempt investment strategies for the firm's client portfolios. In this capacity, her focus is on private client, institutional and sub-advised mutual fund portfolio management. Ms. Daggy-Mangerson has more than 28 years of investment industry experience. Prior to joining Loomis in 2006, Ms. Daggy-Mangerson served as managing director and fixed income portfolio manager at ABN AMRO/Chicago Capital Management, where she was responsible for actively managing both taxable and tax-exempt bond portfolios for institutional, mutual fund, and private clients. Ms. Daggy-Mangerson has served previously as a fund manager for Invesco Funds Group and in portfolio management positions for NationsBank and Stein, Roe & Farnham.
